Our society has encouraged colorblind ideology without taking into consideration the impact it has on people of color. While the intentions may be good this approach to race, racism and race relations doesn’t change the fact that in the 21st century race still matters significantly. Statements like “We are all human” and “I don’t notice race” are actually more likely to cause the very harm these well-intentioned statements said by well-meaning people are trying to avoid. In her keynote, Dr. Hollins will share research on implicit bias and propose alternative ways of thinking.
